About Us
Asili Uhai Afrika, meaning “Origin of Life in Africa” in Swahili, is dedicated to restoring Kenya’s natural heritage through reforestation and environmental conservation. We focus on planting and nurturing indigenous trees, empowering communities, and fostering a sustainable future for our planet.


Who we are
Asili Uhai Afrika (AUA) is a non-governmental organization based in Nanyuki, Kenya, dedicated to restoring Africa’s natural environment through impactful reforestation and afforestation projects. Founded by Fiona Koome and Uwe Baumgärtner a forester, AUA partners with local communities to plant and nurture native tree species, ensuring biodiversity and sustainability.
Our mission goes beyond planting trees we empower communities through agroforestry, sustainable development, and environmental education, contributing to global goals such as combating climate change, reducing poverty, and promoting sustainable livelihoods.
At AUA, we believe in harnessing local expertise to create a greener, healthier future for Africa and the world.
